Yeah, yeah, I know what I said yesterday! Taking a break from posting Project Realm and all that. Well, turns out I don’t, at least not today. I must admit it did initially come forth from being at a loss for what to write today and I was kind of reluctant to start it. Still, when I sat down, opened Word and the map of the Realm and started typing, it actually came to me fairly easily and it felt pretty good. Maybe the upcoming days will see more Project Realm posts after all. ^_^
Today sees the introduction of the third of the islands to flesh out, the Island of the Cold-Blooded. I remember very little about it, so once more there’ll be a lot of sculpting from scratch to do. Enjoy! ^_^
Sculpting the World
Home of the various reptilian and amphibious species collectively known as Lizardfolk or Lizardmen, the Island of the Cold-Blooded extends for 1,125 km from the North to the South coast and for almost 1,250 km from the East to the West coast. Depending on the region, the island’s overall climate can range from sub-tropical to tropical. Temperatures are generally high and remain fairly constant throughout the year, although the Kroxigor Mountains and the Valley of the Wild Lizards have overall lower temperatures than the rest of the island. Periods without rainfall are very rare. The island is very fertile and teeming with both animal and plant life in addition to the sentient Lizardfolk.
While the different kinds of Lizardfolk consider themselves a single people and do not recognize official borders aside from the confines of the island, they do each inhabit their own regions, named after the specific species of Lizardfolk living there. They are: 1) the Pantathiën Lowlands; 2) the Skink Forests; 3) the Slan Marshes; 4) the Kroxigor Mountains and 5) the Valley of the Wild Lizards. It should be noted that some of the regions overlap and transition into each other, making the borders less clear-cut than might be shown on a map.
