… What? It just is. … Ooh! I get it… *sigh* Let’s just get on with it, shall we? ^_^;
And there we have it; Nillanthir’s lightsaber! With a blade as long as its wielder it certainly, like I said yesterday, is not the conventional Jedi’s weapon. Armed with with this, his katana and undoubtedly the greatest swordsmanship skills of all characters in the story, Nill is most definitely a force to be reckoned with, especially on the battlefield.
Now, I had already been working on the lightsaber a bit yesterday, so it didn’t take too much work to get it finished today. The posing of the arms and hands was probably the hardest part. I don’t recall any descriptions of the weapon in the story itself, so I once again improvised a bit. And just to show how big this blade really is, here’s a little comparison with Vhiran’s lightsaber (which, now that I see it like this, should be slightly bigger, but still…) and Nill’s katana.
As you might see I went for the same pattern the katana’s hilt has, to kind of keep Nillanthir’s whole feudal Japanese/Jidaigeki theme going. It’s a nice touch, I think, but it might be changed later on, if the real Nill wills so. Also, I’m not certain if the weapon was a dual-phase lightsaber or just had a really long blade. If it’s the first some switch additions should be made, but aside from that I quite like how it turned out. Feels good to feel good again about something I made. ^_^ See you tomorrow, everyone!
