The Ghosts of Writing Past Part 12. Legacy of the Jedi Temple – Winged Hearts

Okay, clearing up two things to start off. First, unlike the title might make one believe, this one has nothing to do with Universal Sufism. Second, it’s not the actual title of the story. It actually never got a one, but I thought this description/placeholder title to be both eye-catching and quite fitting, considering today’s story (you’ll see! ^_~). So, what is it then? Well, that’s where the other part of the title comes in. Where the previous entries all focussed on the stories created at the Earth Jedi Order itself, this and the following ones will look at the ones that were inspired those stories. While I had already been writing my own Star Wars stories, this would be the start of a new era in writing for me. Following Order 66. Another Side, Another Story I intend to post the stories that were written as follow-ups and sequels to that story, including (eventualy) this one. Be warned, in case you want to read those stories and not be spoiled beforehand! I will blank out some pieces to hide spoilers (mostly names at first, but today’s story premise will be hidden entirely), while still trying to make it readable for everyone. Highlight the blanked out parts if you want to read them anyway.

Now, it has been about eight years, so I might be getting things wrong about the whole thought process leading up to the actual writing and story. I’ll do my best to recall things to the best of my abilities. During the Order 66 RPG, I was chatting with Jareth and at some point we started to talk about the part in which Shamila and Nillanthir met on Zaloriis. I believe it started as a bit of joking around, but fairly soon we started to consider expanding on that scene. It was a cute little scene where Shamila was mesmerized by the mysterious Jedi with the large silver wing. But what if there was more to it? What if feelings other than fascination would well up within the young Padawan? Could we do something with this? We had to go somewhat ahead in time, though. I mean, this strong adult (young adult, but still) warrior romantically involved with an underage girl about half his age? Even HBO wouldn’t have gotten away with that! And so it began. Together we wrote the scene for the Order 66 RPG, in which Shamila gave Nillanthir the Heart of Fire (cue title drop) and indirectly confessed her feelings. And after that we went all out!

Set ten years after the execution of Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire the story begins in the deserts of the planet Zaloriis. Having been taken in by the Empire shortly after the events in Order 66, Shamila now serves as a deadly Imperial enforcer, tasked with taking out powerful threats to the Empire. One such threat is currently in hiding on Zaloriis. As she gets closer to the cave where her target is hiding, though, Shamila feels increasingly uneasy about her mission, but shakes off the feelings. When she finally encounters the insurgent she finds out it is none other than Nillanthir Zerati, the Jedi she met all those years ago on this very planet, whom she fell in love with but believed to have been killed a long time ago. Her feelings for him have only grown over the years and it seems Nillanthir’s heart is certainly not closed to hers. Shamila decides to abandon her mission, turn away from the Empire and the two leave Zaloriis. It isn’t long, however, before the Empire finds out about it and is on their tail. To make matters worse, the leader of an anti-Imperial resistance group called Crimson Thunder appears to have a score to settle with Shamila and is adamant to hunt her down.

And that is basically and very shortly the premise for the story. This time I’m not going to make the same mistake I did for the Order 66 entries and go all-out summary. Needless to say, a lot more is happening and many more characters, both old and new, make their appearance. It’s pretty big! Jareth and I kind of took the forum RP approach with this, in turn writing the scenes. This sometimes meant the writing would slow down a bit if one or the other took a bit longer, but it definitely was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, the writing would eventually grind to a halt, with the story around 30,000 words and far from finished. I have been writing other stories taking place in-between this story and Order 66, but it really is a shame this one never got continued. Although, now that Jareth and I got the contact going again… Who knows… *nudgenudge* I certainly wouldn’t mind getting this little gem off the ground again! ^_^

Ever since a group of shoes held a birthday party a long, long time ago (though in a galaxy not that far away) a little boy’s appreciation for creation was born. And so, throughout the following years shoes partied, a dinosaur travelled through time, oddly shaped football players went on adventures, a young wanderer became a knight, a comedian rose to godhood, Jedi fought an evil empire, a war between cyborg warlords and human-insect hybrids engulfed the world… The boy had learned how with only words on paper (and from times to time a few pictures) he was able to bring people, places, even entire worlds to life. By now that little boy has reached almost the third decade of his life and his love for telling stories has not ceased. And finally, long after he had planned to, he has decided to share these stories with the world. Whether you are a new or already familiar face: welcome to this little archive of mine! This is a place where I will, finally, actually be sharing my writing with others. It will feature pretty much anything I feel like sharing, both old and new stories, fan-fiction and original content, and probably some non-fiction added in at times. So, if you like reading, writing, stories (or me ^_~), drop by, drop a comment (I can’t promise I’ll get back to you quickly, since I’m horrible at that, but I’ll do my best) and, drop it like it’s hot. … Sorry… ^_^; In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy yourself and I look forward to seeing you around!

Who? Just your average descendant of two sea-faring peoples, recently graduated anthropology Master and aspiring author with a life-long passion for writing.

What? Uhm, human. I think... Also a bit crazy, but in a good way. I think...

Where? A land under the sea, far, far away. Occasionally with my head in the clouds.

Why? Trying to get both my work and my love for writing out there, sharing them with others and getting in touch with fellow writers, artists and other like-minded people.

Hi! ^_^
