For a moment it didn’t look I was going to make it today, but eventually I once again managed to exceed the set goal and catch up what I didn’t get to during the past two days. Despite dropping a couple of small balls I do believe I can call this a fairly successful first week for the first story of my first book. The final tally after seven days was 1,159, meaning I’ve exceeded the initial goal of 100 words per day (and thus 700 per week) by more than 400 words. A quick calculation leads to 165 words per day on average, which may have been higher if I had actually written on those writing-less days, but it does mean the set goal can be increased for next week!
Now, it’s not quite highspeed progress you’d probably be looking for if you actually want to get something done within a reasonable timeframe, but for me consistency is currently the key to progress. Once writing on my story consistently is going well I can turn to speeding things up. And like I said, that’s exactly what’s going to happen starting tomorrow. As I’m not certain how well I’ll be able to keep up, I’m still going to be careful, increasing the goal to 150 words per day for now, slowly but surely working my way up to true progress. I won’t be reaching hyperspace at the moment, but if last week has been any indication, I think that number will be rising pretty quickly.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a certain kitty’s instructions to follow! ^_^
