Chapter 4. Walking on the Edge
Part 3. Desperate Measures
Bultar couldn’t help but feel worried with Vhiran’s sudden decision, especially after seeing him look at her like he just did. Something was, just not right. “Vhiran, please be careful.”
“I will,” Vhiran said and as he turned around and walked to the exit of the cave, he could just see Shamila sitting down and lean against Nillanthir. ‘Nillanthir,’ he started speaking through the Force, so that only Nillanthir could hear it, as he exited the cave. ‘I’m going to Coruscant. I had utmost faith Jordan would succeed, but now I can’t just sit here and wait to see if Nor-Ca will succeed. Please don’t try to stop me. There’s too much at stake. And don’t tell the others about this, especially Bultar and Shamila. At least not until my long absence gets suspicious.’ He halted for a moment to look back over his shoulder at the cave and smiled. ‘Take care and may the Force be with you all.’ Vhiran then continued his way to the Lancet.
Nillanthir felt great sorrow inside. He knew he shouldn’t have let Jordan go. You lazerbrain! Nillanthir thought to himself. Now you have Vhiran coming for you… I don’t want to cause Bultar and the others grief by telling them the truth. Nillanthir was often good at hiding his emotions, but Shamila looked into his eyes and knew something was up. Nillanthir noted this and silently cursed himself for thinking too much, but he knew that the others would know the truth. Nillanthir looked to Bultar who was only staring out to where Vhiran left to get the Lancet. I have to do this…, Nillanthir thought then he got up and started to walk to the direction Vhiran was at.
“Where are you going?” Shamila asked.
“There is something I must do. Wait here for me,” Nillanthir said then he quickly dashed out to catch up with Vhiran.
It didn’t take him long to find his friend. “Hold it!” Nillanthir called. Vhiran simply stood still and turned to face Nillanthir.
“Don’t try to stop me. I have to do this. For Bultar’s, Jordan’s and your sake,” he said.
“There is something I have to do, but you must be able to help me. I can break the connection Bultar and I have… But I’ll need your help in it,” Nillanthir replied and he looked at Vhiran’s eyes, hoping to find a positive response.
