Chapter 6. Last Dance
Part 3. Firebrand
The clone troopers at the cave exit looked in shock as the first bursts flung several of them through the air. Only a moment later a Lancet starfighter came diving down at them as a vicious bird of prey, constantly spewing laser fire at its utterly surprised prey. Suddenly the ship stopped its dive and flew upwards again. The Lancet’s lasers opened fire on a small rock formation, causing a small barrage that came rolling at the clones. The troopers attempted to get out of the way as quickly as they could. The soldiers tried to regroup, but before they knew it, the fighter started another dive, driving them apart. Then it headed for several transports and in mere seconds blasted them to pieces. The now unorganised mass of clones was in total disarray. Whatever they tried, they couldn’t catch or escape from the lightning fast attacking fighter. “Warn the commander!” one of the officers yelled over the noise of the fire that was being exchanged between the Lancet and the clone trooper’s blasters. Then, the ship’s canopy slightly opened and several round objects were quickly flung at the soldiers one after another. The Lancet made one more dive and as it flew up again the thrown grenades exploded on the ground.
“There, that should dampen their fighting spirit,” Vhiran said as the fighter left Zaloriis’ atmosphere. “Right, hyperspace coordinates set.”
“Let’s get out of here then. We’ve got company!” Bultar replied and inclined her head to the group of Imperial warships heading in their direction.
Shamila quietly looked down on the planet from the Lancet’s transparisteel window. Closing her eyes, she let out a deep sigh and held Nillanthir’s feather to her heart. Then the ship entered hyperspace and the three Jedi left the Zaloriis system behind them.
