So here we are again. A month since the last poem and post. A month since my vacation during which I hoped to give my writing a major boost had begun. Things turned, slightly differently than expected. My destination was Lebanon, so no doubt anyone somewhat familiar with the country can imagine the hurdles that one tends to encounters, most prominently: daily problems with electricity and water, a car breaking down for one reason or another every other day despite (or possibly because of) various repairs and traffic that can only be described as anarchy. Then there are the (to be expected) unexpected numerous visits by and to family and friends, not able to break through the language barrier as effectively as I’d hoped and the scorching hot sun shining down on the land…
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve had a wonderful couple of weeks there! It’s a no less than gorgeous country that never fails to paint a breathtaking view, whether it’s with its great mountains, its mighty cedar forests, its brightly lit towns and cities or its ancient ruins. I’ve seen some amazing sights and had some fantastic experiences. Simply being there and especially seeing my aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members again after nearly a decade has been absolutely incredible! I can say without a doubt I am incredibly happy I went!
I just thought there would have been more quietly sitting on the veranda, sipping from the little coffee cup, viewing the mountains in front of me and having my hands run across the keyboard, just writing away. As the number of posts during the past few weeks has shown, it’s pretty clear that didn’t happen and behind the scenes writing progress has unfortunately been lacking as well. Now with the vacation over and life turning back to its regular schedule I’m not much further than where I left off.
So here we are again… Now what? It’s easy, really. Now, we write! I shan’t make any promises about what and when I’m going to write (let alone finish!), neither to you nor to myself, not until I know I can keep them, anyway, but write I shall! So like I said back when I first started this blog: let’s get this show on the road!
