3. Dantooine: Ghosts from the Past
Without warning the first figure jumped down and landed in crouched position behind the man. Vhiran could now clearly see it was a woman with long black hair tied together in a high ponytail and stern looking dark brown eyes. She was clad in a tight combat suit and wore a black mask that covered the lower half of her face, as well as a bracer on each arm. Two short scabbards, one on her left shoulder and one at her back waist, each contained the hilt of a lightweapon. The woman dashed forward at the man, who turned around and threw a powerful punch with a now lightning covered fist at her. The woman immediately somersaulted out of the way and landed behind him. Constantly holding on to the hilt at her shoulder she rolled in his direction. As she ended the roll and jumped up, she drew one of her weapons, a silver-bladed lightknife, and knocked her opponent into the air. Without pause she then used the man’s body to launch herself high in the air and let out a high-pitched shriek as she dropped herself back to the ground and crashed into the man, now fallen to the ground, with her weapon before her. As the dust faded the man lay on his back, alive but completely motionless. The impact of the woman’s attack had turned the ground beneath and around him into a small crater with his body in the middle. The woman looked down at him. She took hold of both the hilts and crouched slightly. A strange blue glow started surrounding her body and slowly moved to her hands to burst into two flames. The woman closed her eyes for a moment then opened them wide and drew both weapons. “Begone!” she yelled as she struck the man with the two burning blades.
As she sheathed her knifes and watched the blue flames devour the man’s body in mere moments, she took a small object from one of the bracers, a small shimmering stone. A crystal. She stretched out her arm towards where the body had been and the flames still were. The flames started moving towards her as she slowly began pulling her arm back. Then, with single fierce pull the flames shot to her hand. She held the crystal up and slammed the flame against it. Holding on to the crystal with one hand and covering it with the other, the woman started shaking heavily and small tongues of flames seemed to try to escape from her hand. It looked as if she was fighting to hold something at bay. Then, only seconds later, she stood still again, carefully opening her hand and looking at the now fiercely glowing crystal. She made a short nod and placed the stone back into the bracer. “It is done,” she said softly as she turned her gaze at the dark sky, then jumped in the air and vanished, leaving behind only a short breeze as trace of her presence.
