Between the Conclaves – 3. Dantooine: Ghosts from the Past, Part 6

3. Dantooine: Ghosts from the Past

Part 6

Hmm…” Tha’ci turned her gaze upwards with a look of mixed sadness, anger and determination. “It seems my return to the Galaxy could not have come at a more crucial time.” She turned back to the Jedi Knight. “If what you say is true and the Sith control the Galaxy, then something must be done, fast. Let me join you in your coming fight, Vhiran Ashukahwa.”

Vhiran bowed. “It would be an honour, Master Tha’ci. How will you fight though? You do not have a host body to…”

“I shall remain in the crystal, for the time being at least. Place it in that wonder of a lightknife you created and keep it with you. We can remain in contact this way, and then I might aid you through other ways than direct combat.” She raised her finger. “Ah, one more thing. Please do not call me Master. I am no Master, never received the title. I haven’t even been a Jedi for over 1000 years, so…”

“As you wish.” Vhiran bowed again. He looked around. “But, how do I get…”

“I shall leave your body and mind now.” The Traveller interrupted. “Then you shall have complete control of yourself again. I thank you again, Vhiran Ashukahwa.” She bowed.

Her image faded, as well as the light around them. Vhiran saw the rocky ceiling of the cave reappear above him. With a quick movement he sat upright and looked from the crystal in his hand to the lightknife hilt lying a few meters before him. Let’s do this. Vhiran stood up and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, focussing on the hilt. The weapon started to levitate a few meters above the ground, then slowly, piece by piece, it started disassembling. If he lost concentration for only a fraction of a moment now, everything would fall to the ground and the weapon would be ruined. The young Master increased his focus, blocked away all distractions from the outside as the separate pieces orbited around each other, with the crystal chamber and mount at the centre. He raised his hand, directing the now floating crystal towards its mount. A click in his mind. The crystal had made contact. From that moment all went smoothly. Viewing the process in his mind, Vhiran used both hands put all pieces back in place. He made a slight pulling movement with his hand and only a moment later grasped the reassembled hilt of the now fully constructed lightknife. What little sound was around in the cave returned to him. Vhiran opened his eyes. A smile appeared on his face as he viewed his latest creation with joy and pressed the switch. With a hissing sound a short silver blade appeared. He quickly looked away, his arm covering his face, and held the knife at distance at the sudden intensity it emanated upon activation. It threw a bright, almost blinding glow over the entire chamber. Tremendous heat as well as fierce electric sparks came from the silver blade and seemed to ripple the air around it. Gritting his teeth, Vhiran pressed the switch again, deactivating the knife. He gulped and panted slightly. With Tha’ci’s crystal, the power of the knife was beyond anything he had seen before! He now began to doubt the decision of powering the weapon with it…

Be careful, young Jedi.’ He heard Tha’ci’s voice in his mind. ‘I sense you are strong, but it seems my power, even in this compressed state, is too much for you to control as of now. Do not use this knife unless you have no other choice. You might very well destroy yourself, if you cannot control it!

Vhiran closed his eyes and nodded. He took firm hold of the knife and tried to channel his thoughts into the crystal. ‘I shall keep that in mind. Thank you.

About

Ever since a group of shoes held a birthday party a long, long time ago (though in a galaxy not that far away) a little boy’s appreciation for creation was born. And so, throughout the following years shoes partied, a dinosaur travelled through time, oddly shaped football players went on adventures, a young wanderer became a knight, a comedian rose to godhood, Jedi fought an evil empire, a war between cyborg warlords and human-insect hybrids engulfed the world… The boy had learned how with only words on paper (and from times to time a few pictures) he was able to bring people, places, even entire worlds to life. By now that little boy has reached almost the third decade of his life and his love for telling stories has not ceased. And finally, long after he had planned to, he has decided to share these stories with the world. Whether you are a new or already familiar face: welcome to this little archive of mine! This is a place where I will, finally, actually be sharing my writing with others. It will feature pretty much anything I feel like sharing, both old and new stories, fan-fiction and original content, and probably some non-fiction added in at times. So, if you like reading, writing, stories (or me ^_~), drop by, drop a comment (I can’t promise I’ll get back to you quickly, since I’m horrible at that, but I’ll do my best) and, drop it like it’s hot. … Sorry… ^_^; In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy yourself and I look forward to seeing you around!

Who? Just your average descendant of two sea-faring peoples, recently graduated anthropology Master and aspiring author with a life-long passion for writing.

What? Uhm, human. I think... Also a bit crazy, but in a good way. I think...

Where? A land under the sea, far, far away. Occasionally with my head in the clouds.

Why? Trying to get both my work and my love for writing out there, sharing them with others and getting in touch with fellow writers, artists and other like-minded people.

Hi! ^_^
