Between the Conclaves – Epilogue, Part 3

Part 3

Dantooine, in the Outer Rim

A paper thin margin?’

That’s right. You did not die outright when she did. When she was killed, your bond was triggered, and for a mere few moments you were on the edge of life and death. Those moments were just enough for me though. But had you not placed your hand on the knife at that exact moment, then no matter how long the time given, it would not have been enough. Then I could not have entered your body and my life force could not have given you the strength needed to survive. The thread your life hung by was the thinnest. But it was just thick enough.’

I see. Thank you, Tha’ci.’

You are one lucky Jedi to have met such a powerful Traveller,’ Tha’ci laughed, but turned serious upon seeing the humourless smile on the young man’s face as he looked up. He seemed weary, and uncertain. ‘Vhiran…’

So,’ Vhiran interrupted, trying to keep his voice under control. ‘Bultar. She’s, really gone, isn’t she?’ He pressed his lips tightly together, fearing Tha’ci’s reply.

The Traveller crossed her arms and pretended to ponder on the question. ‘Well, she was killed, but…’ She looked down at the Jedi Knight with a smirk. ‘I wouldn’t say ‘gone’’

Vhiran kept staring downwards, his look now having turned into a bitter one. ‘If you’re trying to make a joke to lighten the mood, it’s not working.’ He gritted his teeth. ‘Tha’ci, I appreciate your trouble, but, perhaps it would have been better if I just…’

‘Don’t you even think of dying now!’ the former Shadow interrupted in a strict tone. ‘How are you going to protect the people around you, let alone the Galaxy if you’re dead, hmm?’

Vhiran shook his head. ‘Protect? How? I failed her twice, Tha’ci. Two times in a short while did I fail to protect the one person I should have been protecting at all costs! And by all account, the second time should have killed me as well! How am I…’

Not by dying, that’s for certain.’ Tha’ci raised her chin slightly. ‘From now on I won’t hear another word about it,’ she continued without giving him a chance to reply. ‘Vhiran, I’m going to give you partial control of your senses and body. Most of your injuries have healed, but since your body is still too weak to survive on its own, I’ll remain inside for the time being. Open your eyes, have a good look around at where you are.’ She paused a moment and smirked. ‘Then tell me if you still want to become one with the Force.’

Introducing Between the Conclaves

Ever since a group of shoes held a birthday party a long, long time ago (though in a galaxy not that far away) a little boy’s appreciation for creation was born. And so, throughout the following years shoes partied, a dinosaur travelled through time, oddly shaped football players went on adventures, a young wanderer became a knight, a comedian rose to godhood, Jedi fought an evil empire, a war between cyborg warlords and human-insect hybrids engulfed the world… The boy had learned how with only words on paper (and from times to time a few pictures) he was able to bring people, places, even entire worlds to life. By now that little boy has reached almost the third decade of his life and his love for telling stories has not ceased. And finally, long after he had planned to, he has decided to share these stories with the world. Whether you are a new or already familiar face: welcome to this little archive of mine! This is a place where I will, finally, actually be sharing my writing with others. It will feature pretty much anything I feel like sharing, both old and new stories, fan-fiction and original content, and probably some non-fiction added in at times. So, if you like reading, writing, stories (or me ^_~), drop by, drop a comment (I can’t promise I’ll get back to you quickly, since I’m horrible at that, but I’ll do my best) and, drop it like it’s hot. … Sorry… ^_^; In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy yourself and I look forward to seeing you around!

Who? Just your average descendant of two sea-faring peoples, recently graduated anthropology Master and aspiring author with a life-long passion for writing.

What? Uhm, human. I think... Also a bit crazy, but in a good way. I think...

Where? A land under the sea, far, far away. Occasionally with my head in the clouds.

Why? Trying to get both my work and my love for writing out there, sharing them with others and getting in touch with fellow writers, artists and other like-minded people.

Hi! ^_^
