Tha’ci was a female Human Jedi Shadow and Traveller who lived both during the New Sith Wars and the early rise of the Galactic Empire. During the time of the New Sith Wars, she led a group of outcast Jedi Shadows who fought the Sith and other Dark Side users. During a battle against Sith Lord Darth Bane on Dantooine, she was killed along with several of her fellow Shadows. She managed to place her spirit within a crystal, however. This kept her hidden and safe from Bane, but also trapped inside the crystal. Nearly a thousand years later, the fugitive Jedi Knight Vhiran Ashukahwa found the crystal and released Tha’ci from it. Following this, Tha’ci joined Ashukahwa on his journeys and his attempts to fight the recently risen Galactic Empire.
Personality and traits
Consciously living in two time periods that were marked by strife and the Sith being at the height of their power, has been without a doubt one of the strongest factors shaping Tha’ci’s mindset. The danger to the Galaxy she saw in the Brotherhood of Darkness, the Sith in general and the Dark Side as a whole, strongly drove her devotion to her work as a Jedi Shadow. Restless and relentless in her cause of hunting of Dark Side users, she would do anything she considered necessary to get the job done. She would not just keep an open mind to new methods and ways of thinking that would aid her at all times, but would fully embrace them. Her devotion was very much reflected in the loyalty she exhibited towards the Jedi Order.. The Order had not only raised and trained her, but was also one of the strongest forces opposing the Dark Side and thus a natural ally to Tha’ci.
Despite her loyalty, she was also often at odds with the Jedi High Council and other high-ranking, more traditionally minded Jedi, however. In their eyes, her methods were unorthodox, radical and even dangerous methods and her behaviour bordering on fanaticism. Her feelings of being restrained and unappreciated, would lead Tha’ci to see the Jedi as deluded and stuck in their old ways and bring about a permanent rift between them. She would never consider turning against them them, however, as she still considered them genuine in their intention to protect the Galaxy and felt conflict between her and them would be detrimental in the fight against their mutual enemy. Her leaving the Order and continuing the fight from the shadows was the direct result of her desire for both a continued unified front against the Sith and being able to fight them without constraints.
Even through her millennium-long absence from the Galaxy, following her confrontation with Darth Bane, Tha’ci’s convictions hadn’t wavered one bit. Despite her cynicism towards the Jedi being as strong as ever, as shown during her first encounter with Vhiran Ashukahwa, the knowledge of the Sith’s return, in the form of Darth Sidious and his Galactic Empire, only fuelled had been the main driving force throughout her life: protecting the Galaxy from the Dark Side.
Power and abilities
Born Force sensitive, Tha’ci was trained as a Jedi from very early on. During her training she would dedicate herself to becoming a Jedi Shadow and hunting the followers of the Dark Side. As a Shadow she would develop one of her most striking techniques: using the Force, Tha’ci could conjure flames that forced out the soul of a defeated opponent and then lock it within a specially carved crystal.
In addition, Tha’ci was a Traveler, a person capable of detaching their soul from their body at will and have it enter other bodies. She was also capable of entering inanimate objects in this manner, but could not leave it without a living being directly touching the object. Because of this ability, she was considered to be virtually immortal.
Finally, Tha’ci was an incredibly powerful fighter. Combining her speed and agility with the Force, she would swiftly move around the battlefield, evading, confusing and wearing out her opponent. Upon finding an opening, she would deliver quick and fierce strikes and move out of her opponent’s reach again before they would have a chance to react. Her weapon of choice was the lightknife, of which she carried a pair to complemented her fighting style, although she was also very proficient in unarmed combat.
