Aoshi was a male Human Imperial commander who lived during the latter years of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. Years before even the start of the Clone Wars, Aoshi had been a trusted friend of Jedi Knight Nillanthi Zerati and taught Zerati his personal sword fighting style. Years later, however, the fall of the Galactic Republic and the execution of Order 66 would put their long friendship to an end. Aoshi believed Palpatine when the chancellor-turned-emperor claimed the Jedi had turned against the Republic. Feeling betrayed by the Jedi and, by extension, Nillanthir, Aoshi vowed to hunt down and kill his old friend. Tracking down Zerati and nearly a dozen of other Jedi to the planet Zaloriis, Aoshi led a detachment of clone troopers there. While many of the Jedi managed to escape and the strike force was largely driven back, Aoshi managed to reach Nillanthir. The two faced off in a gruelling one-on-one duel during which Nillanthir unsuccessfully tried to convince Aoshi that the Jedi weren’t traitors. Although evenly matched, it would be Zerati who would deal the final and fatal blow to his opponent, although regretfully. Seeking to honour his old friend, the Jedi gave Aoshi a proper burial at the site of their final battle.
